Prof., DSc, PhD Eng. Leszek Adam Dobrzański, Honorary Professor, M. Dr. HC has been a full professor and director of the ASKLEPIOS Science Center for five years at the Design, Research, and Production Center of Medical and Dental Engineering ASKLEPIOS Ltd. in Gliwice, Poland. At the same time, he is a professor at the Department of Biomedical Engineering of the Koszalin University of Technology in Koszalin, Poland. He worked in the years 1971to 2017 at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice (1971-2017) as a full professor (1995-2017). He is the president of the World Academy of Materials and Manufacturing Engineering WAMME, vice president of the Engineering Academy in Poland and a foreign member of the Engineering Academy of Ukraine and Slovakia, editor-in-chief of the Journal of Achievements in Materials and Manufacturing Engineering JAMME, and Archives of Materials Science and Engineering AMSE. He is a member of Editorial Boards, incl. at Taylor & Francis, MDPI, ASTM International, and others.
The title of professor was awarded to him by the President of the Republic of Poland in 1995, and abroad in 2017 the title of honorary professor of the Lviv State University of Technology in Lviv, Ukraine, and three honorary doctoral degrees in 1997 from the University of Ruse (Bulgaria), in 2007 from the State University in Khmelnytsky (Ukraine) and in 2016 at the University of Miskolc (Hungary). He was awarded numerous state decorations in Poland, including the Commander's, Officer's, and Knight's Crosses of the Order of Polonia Restituta and the Golden Cross of Merit, as well as the Commander's Cross of the Order of Merite de L'Innovation by the King of Belgium and many honorary awards in various countries, including William Jonson, Albert Schweitzer, Ferdinand Martinengo, Tadeusz Sendzimir, Rudolf Clausius, and Wiesław Chladek and about one hundred awards at the International Innovation Fair, as well as Honorary Medals of the Universities in Pilsen (Czech Republic) and twice the University of Žilina (Slovakia), as well as many medals memorials of universities in Poland and abroad.
He has extensive experience in managing 29 research and development projects (reaching the IX TRL level) and approx. 20 international projects. The total value of the projects for which he was the content manager (not only the manager) is nearly 130 million. PLN, including Project IMSKA-MAT (PLN 14.7 million), LANAMATE (approx. PLN 28.5 million) (see table). He developed new fields of study, including Materials Engineering, with the Dental Engineering profile - as the first in Poland and Applied Computer Science (priority fields with the MNISW INFONANO, NANATRIM, QUAPINFO and IMOTECH project financed by ERDF POKL, LANAMATE and MERMFLEG and tasks in the BIO-FARMA project) , as well as the FORSURF project on foresight research in the field of advanced surface engineering technologies in 2020-2030 - OP IE. The active scientist with an established position, among others in the field of dental, materials, manufacturing, and surface engineering, as well as nanotechnology, computer science of manufacturing and additive manufacturing, and surface engineering He is the promoter of 62 doctoral theses He holds about 60 patents He has been awarded about 100 times with gold, silver and bronze medals and awards at invention fairs around the world, including in Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Geneva, Taipei, Warsaw, Nuremberg, China, Brussels, Tehran, Prague, Macao, Zagreb u, in Foz do Iguacu, Brazil. His works are cited at least 16,000 times in world journals according to Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar, and in large numbers nationally; a number of citations: 16,000 (GS), 5,189 (SC), 3,040 (WS), h index: 52 (GS), 33 (SC), 26 (WS). He is the author of approx. 3,000 scientific publications and books (more to be published), including approx. 60 books and monographs, approx. 60 chapters in books and monographs, 250 articles in English. with the so-called Philadelphia list in the Web of Science Core Collection, 420 in English in the Scopus database, a total of approx. 1000 articles in English in other international journals, as well as publications in Chinese, Italian, Russian, and Ukrainian Scientific editor of about 500 compact collective studies, over 100 lectures at the invitation of organizers of international scientific conferences in many countries of the world on all continents.
